LIVING IN SENNEVILLE:
Just over 1,000 inhabitants of this exclusive community share 7.4 square kilometers making it by far the lowest habitation density on the whole island of Montréal. Just about every home is a country estate but just minutes away from public transit, highways and amenities, parks, trails, marinas, schools, etc...
There is a very active summer program for children in Senneville.
The community pool offers swimming lessons all summer for all levels. In addition there are several competitive teams competing with other local pools: swim team (Wednesday evenings) , diving, water polo, & synchronized swimming. However, as a small community it is not at the intensity of an olympic meet. There is also adult swimming programs & family swim nights. The pool life guards offer several fun activities throughout the summer including a giant sleep over in the park.
Every summer there is a movie night & an evening performance of Shakespeare in the Park.
There are two community "Har-tru" tennis courts. Tennis lessons are offered to both adults & children at a nominal fee. Tuesday morning & Thursday evenings are reserved for ladies tennis & Tuesday evening is men's night. A spring & fall round robin is held every year followed by a neighbourhood pot luck dinner.
There is a Junior Squadron sailing program offered to Senneville children from age ten at the Baie d'Urfe yacht club. Senneville also has its own private yacht club.
Around July 1st there is "Senneville Day" with organized games for children & adults during the day followed by a community supper (paid for by the town) with musical entertainment in the evening.
A local certified Yoga teacher offers yoga lessons to citizens twice a week & is held outdoors in the summer.
In early December there is a community fund raiser pot luck supper. There is a silent auction & great items to bid on such as Canadians hockey tickets, rounds of golf at Whitlock etc., dinners at restaurants, high end perfume, wine, jewellery etc. Many items are donated by citizens.
In late January there is a little carnival with various winter activities organized in the park. ie. artificial toboggan run. Food & music are also part of the fun.
At Halloween, the town organizes a tractor-drawn wagon to bring children around streets in Senneville.
In winter there is cross-country skiing available at several locations in Senneville including the old Senneville Veteran's Golf Course (no longer in use), in the near-by woods & on the lake when frozen.
There is both a skating & hockey rink in the park in winter & a rink for ball hockey in the summer. A new community hall is about to be constructed in the park.
Some residents like to go ice-fishing on the near-by Lake of Two Mountains.
There are two eco-friendly farms at the north end of Senneville that sell fresh vegetables to all on Wednesday & Saturday mornings. On Wednesdays volunteers are welcome to work on these farms. As well, there is a children's section where they can participate in learning how things grow.
Senneville residents get a discount to join the near-by Morgan Arboretum. (The town pays the difference.)
Senneville also has a private nine hole golf course, Braeside, which has been in existence since the late 1800's. It was started by four local families including the Morgan's & the Angus's (Angus Wards). There is a limit of 185 members. It has a very cozy atmosphere with a charming club house available for the use of members for private parties. It also offers a junior program.
7 Chemin Senneville is within walking distance of numerous restaurants & the promenade at the Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue locks.
